ICTAS headquarters and home to collaborative research including injury biomechanics, biomedical engineering, biomaterials and tissue engineering, 3D printing and advanced manufacturing, microfluids and micro-robotics, wireless/5G technology, environmental nanoscience and advanced materials. 

The Materials Characterization Lab (MCL), a shared research facility for materials science, and the Helmet Lab, which focuses on injury biomechanics as it relates to concussion reduction, are also located in Kelly Hall.

ICTAS NCFL

Located in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, this ICTAS facility houses the state-of-the-art Nanoscale Characterization and Fabrication Laboratory, as well as facilities for research in earth and environmental nanoscience, software systems and nonlinear dynamics and control systems.

The building also serves as the headquarters for the Virginia Tech Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership, which researches UAS integration and works with the FAA to develop UAS industry standards.

ICTAS II

Located on Washington Street in the Life Sciences District of the Virginia Tech campus, research in ICTAS II includes bioinspired systems, sustainable water, environmental engineering, ecological engineering and spin-driven physics.

The building is also the home to the Virginia Tech Center for Quantum Information, Science and Engineering. Rated LEED-Gold, ICTAS II was the first LEED-certified research building on campus.

Drone Park

With a footprint of 120' by 300', the 85' high Virginia Tech Drone Park is the tallest netted flight facility in the U.S. and offers the largest free-span flight area. The facility provides flight space, training, and education for students, researchers, and the community.
